As you get older, you may have dentures or dental implants. These need to be checked by your dentist regularly.
Dental Exams
For dentures, your dentist will make sure they fit you properly and do not give you sores. Dentists will also examine your gums for signs of oral cancer, gum disease, loose fillings, broken teeth and more.
Medicine & Health History
If you take medicine that makes your mouth dry, or makes your gums grow, let your dentist take a close look. Your health history and habits can affect your oral health. That’s why it’s important to inform your dentist if you smoke, have allergies, or any changes in your general health or medication conditions.
Dental Cleaning
Dental cleaning has two parts. First, your dentist or dental hygienist will scrape away tartar. Next, they will polish your teeth.
Maintenance
If you have a dental bridge or implant, ask your dentist to check up on it. Peventative dental care is less expensive than treatment. So remember to get regular dental exams, cleaning, and brush and floss your teeth daily!
